UK Grid is a tier 2 provider with a fully resilient multi-homed network incorporating London and Manchester. We have multiple connections to four tier 1 providers, allowing us to deliver independent IP transit from London and Manchester.
Using our diverse network connections between London and Manchester we can use either of these cities as a backup path for the other, thus enabling continuous IP transit delivery.
The UK Grid network is low latency, which is achieved by peering with many other network providers via numerous Internet exchanges in the UK. This enables us to provide IP transit to sensitive applications such as VOIP and IP TV of which we have numerous customers already providing services in these areas.
We operate a full mesh BGP4 multi-homed network and operate under ASN 39757.
Our network resilience is backed up with a solid SLA. We guarentee a 99.99% uptime SLA with money back should we not deliver our targets.
We are active members of LINX, LoNAP, LIPEX, MaNAP and MCIX peering points to create a low latency network. Currently we have over a 140 public peering arrangements and exchange 18,000 routes and approximaely 1/3 of our total IP traffic through public peers and are always looking to add more!
Some of the organisations we peer with are the BBC, Virgin Media, Nominet, Microsoft plus many more...
We operate a Cisco based network offering the best technology for performance, reliability and investment protection.
Full or partial IP transit.
We can deliver the Internet routing table, and/or a default route or policy based routes.
BGP4, dynamic or static routing.
We sell IP transit by the CDR (Committed Data Rate). If you purchase 1Mbps, we will guarantee to reserve 1Mbps of network capacity for you.
You have the option to have your transit burstable or capped.
Burstable means that should the network capacity be available, which it always is as UK Grid ensures a 20% overhead space on the network at all times, then you can burst to the maximum capacity of the port you are on. If this is a 100Mbps port, capacity allowing, you can burst to 100Mbps. You are billed using 95th percentile billing for bursts over your CDR.
Capped transit means that you are restricted to a fixed CDR and cannot burst. Some customers prefer this to ensure they are in full control of their monthly finances.
We don't charge for initial IP address allocation, however, we abide by RIPE regulations and thus all IP addresses have to be justified.
95th percentile billing for burstable transit, or capped flat rate billing available.
