New Service Status page With RSS feeds
Today we have gone live with a new service status page for customers to check up to the minute information about the status of
our systems. The status page also has an RSS feed meaning you can get the latest service information without having to visit our website.

Internet Exchanges
UK Grid now peers with over 120 organisations via multiple Internet Exchange points and we currently push 1/4 of our transit
traffic via these Exchanges. This provides a low latency network to our customers as to use a route that's presented from an
Internet Exchange point means traffic doesn't traverse the global Internet, instead it's routed internally across our backbone
via a couple of hops to its destination.

UK Grid Fibre
Our new fibre between IFL and Telecity will shortly be operational and we will be offering Metro Ethernet between IFL > Telecity > Greenheys for the following prices
10 Mbps = £40.00 per port per month
100 Mps = £75.00 per port per month
1000 Mbps = £175.00 per port per month
*Each metro connection requires a minimum of two ports.
Greenheys Data Centre
Our data centre in Greenheys on Manchester Science Park is now almost full. Due to the success of this Data Centre we will
shortly be opening Greenheys DC2 which will have an additional 16 x 47U colocation cabinets. The opening date for Greenheys
DC2 will be at the end July and we are currently taking pre-orders for this facility.
Greenheys DC and DC2 is an excellent data redundancy facility for those customers requiring split site locations for their
colocation. GH DC and DC2 have independent connectivity to IFL. Owing to our own fibre circuit between sites, we can offer
point to point connectivity for mirroring and data replication to create the perfect failover strategy.
Value Added Colocation
Why not colocate with UK Grid in multiple locations. Some of our new customers that are based in London are now seeing the
value of colocating with us in Manchester too. Greenheys datacentre is an ideal place to do this. We can now provide point2point
connections between any of the main London datacentres into Greenheys and IFL in Manchester. We can also provide independent
IP transit out of London and Manchester.
Another idea for colocating with UK Grid on a smaller scale would be to take space in
IFL and GH with a point2point connection between the two sites.

Managed and Shared Firewalls
UK Grid now offers managed and shared Cisco PIX firewalls. The Cisco PIX firewall range are probably the most robust and secure
firewall on the market today. Prices for managed firewalls vary depending on the model you choose and start from £60.00 per month.
Prices to use our shared Cisco PIX firewall cluster start from £25.00 per month.

Dedicated and Managed Switch's and Routers
UK Grid also offers dedicated and managed Cisco switches and routers. With in-house skills on switching and routing, we can put
together a scalable solution that suits your needs. Prices start from £40.00 per month for a managed Cisco 2950 24 port switch.
AS numbers and PI Space
UK Grid can now provide AS numbers and PI space, thus enabling customers to build their own BGP4 platform. We can also help
customers join and manage their RIPE account.
Email and SMS alerting
We have further developed our network monitoring platform to be able to offer this service to our customers due to popular demand.
Alerts can be delivered to email or mobile phone and we can monitor hosts and services. The email alerting is a free service and
the SMS facility starts from £5.00 per month.
Dedicated Servers
UK Grid now has a large selection of dedicated and managed servers available to suit all applications. If the specification
that you require is not listed on our website, please ask as we can custom a server to suit your requirements.

VOIP
UK Grid will shortly be launching two new hosted VOIP services. The first service will be a shared service where a customer can
set up an account on a shared VOIP server and benefit from cheap VOIP calls using our VOIP gateway. The second service will
benefit an organisation where we provide a dedicated hosted VOIP server meaning free internal calls and cheap external calls via
our VOIP gateway.
