A managed or unmanaged dedicated firewall is an easy way to protect your web solution and the benefits are clear.
With a managed dedicated firewall, our highly experienced security staff will consult with you and then configure and install the firewall into your colocation space. We will then manage, support and monitor the firewall with our 24 x 7 x 365 NOC. We currently use Cisco PIX based firewalls as we have extensive knowledge in the Cisco Arena. We can supply single stand alone firewalls or a highly available firewall cluster, depending on your requirements
An unmanaged firewall allows you to configure the firewall yourself, we simply provide the hardware for you on a monthly fee. This is a cost effective way of purchasing a firewall, saving you the large up front costs of purchasing outright.
Setting up a firewall can be a complex process so UK Grid's technical staff will liase with you, gather your requirements and convert them into a firewall policy. Once both parties are happy with the policy, we will configure and install the firewall for you.
Ongoing policy changes will be carried out at your request by UK Grid's technical staff. All you need to do as log a call with our helpdesk and we will do the rest.
Our dedicated firewall's provide security to your individual environment only, thus giving you a greater level of security and flexibility than on a shared firewall.
All of our dedicated firewall's are monitored 24 x 7 x 365 by our Network Opertations Centre. We provide spare hardware on all models that we supply, offering a lightnight fast swap out should there be a hardware fault on any managed firewall.
Using the VPN functionality of a Cisco PIX firewall can give you a secure site-to-site or remote access VPN tunnel using IPSEC to your web environment. This means you can administer your web environment knowing that all traffic is protected by IPSEC 3DES encryption. The VPN service is inclusive with a dedicated firewall so you don't pay extra to have a VPN configured for you.
